Please Daddy
"Will you please play baby, daddy?" Vince has successfully avoided this request all day... until 3:04 PM this afternoon.
When the request first came this morning, Vince suggested they color... the boys were successfully distracted. When the request came a second time, he suggested building a sweet train set (not just a train set mind you, a sweet train set)... distraction attempt #2 successful. When the third request came, Vince suggested the boys play construction, so when I came home, every single car and truck from the whole house was spread over the living room... distraction attempt #3 successful. When the fourth request came, it was nap time... distraction attempt #4 successful. After nap, Vince took Ezra to Starbucks to play UNO - some good man-to-man time.
Literally the moment Ezra walked in the door from his date with daddy, however, the request rose again. "Daddy, will you please play baby?" What does one do when his son wants to play baby and he's already used coloring, trains, construction, dates, and games (which Vince typically hates) to distract the child... he acquiesces and plays baby. Vince even tried to distract the boys while playing baby. The conversation went something like this... "oh, boys, let's play fireman!" Ezra looked at Vince with a rather confused look and said, "but daddy, you don't have any fireman clothes." After a moment, Ezra lit up and said, "oh, I have a good idea daddy... Asher and I will be the firemen and you can be the person who watches the babies." Distraction attempt #5... bomb. Much to his dismay, Vince sat today and played baby... with the boys. Sure, the babies had a bit more gas than they do when I play baby and they also flew across the room quite a bit. But a monumental moment nonetheless. Reason 992 that I love that guy.

Thank you Kate and Addy!
Priceless...what a good daddy! And your boys are learning those skills from you.
I remember MY daddy agreeing to play baby with me. We'd just barely get started when he'd offer to put the babies down for a nap. Then he'd lay on my bed with the babies and fall asleep. Sigh.
Karisa, I like your Dad's version of baby. I think I'll play that game!
What a wuss.
I love your face in these pictures Vince. I love the boys faces too. It's as if they know how you feel about playing babies and they're asking you any ways to annoy you. What a good daddy. Good practice for the boys. Make sure they are learning to change diapers. Rob is scared to death to change diapers. He's actually having dreams about it. :)He dreamed the other night that he got poop all over our kids face. tee hee-kind of funny.
You know how Phil plays baby? He pretends to be really nurturing and then asks the kids how far they think he can throw the baby or how far he can make it bounce off the bed. Shocking, I know.
He prefers to play lightsabers and I prefer to read Henry a book rather than play lightsabers. But I make a pretty good Darth Vader impersonation.
they are really telling you that they want you to teach them HOW TO BE GREAT DADDIES!
